The Michigan Downtown Association (MDA) held its annual state-wide conference in Downtown Ann Arbor on November 7th and 8th. This annual conference brings DDA Directors, board members, city and elected officials together to learn best practices, network, and celebrate each others accomplishments.
Wixom DDA Executive Director, Laura Cloutier, DDA Chairperson, Jess Buck, DDA Vice-Chairperson, Carissa Osburn, and DDA Board Member, Russ Meredith attended the MDA annual conference in Ann Arbor. They attended sessions on Placemaking, Telling our Downtown Story, Strategic Planning, Enhancing Volunteer Participation, and more. Executive Director Cloutier was even a presenter at this year’s conference speaking about the “Delicate Art of Revenue Sharing”.
While at the conference the leadership of the MDA takes some time to recognize organizations and individuals that have exhibited great leadership, held an impactful event, and more. The Wixom DDA were excited and honored to win the “Best Promotional Event” for the Wixom Block Party. This event has grown in recent years and has made an impact on downtown businesses with an increase of sales by 15% the day of the event.
The Wixom DDA thanks The MDA for this recognition and its community for coming out to help make the Wixom Block Party a success. Join them next year on September 20th for the Wixom Block Party.
