The Junction is Downtown Wixom’s lively and welcoming Social District, offering patrons 21 and older the unique opportunity to purchase an alcoholic beverage from participating establishments and enjoy it outdoors in designated areas. Whether you’re strolling through Sibley Square Park, relaxing by the Wixom Fountain Area, or gathering with friends at West End Commons, The Junction provides the perfect backdrop for connecting with the community and enjoying the vibrant downtown atmosphere.

Open seven days a week from Noon to 10:00 PM, The Junction is a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike.

How Does It Work?

Purchase your drink from any of our participating businesses

All drinks must be served in designated Junction cups

Walk freely throughout Downtown Wixom

Stay within the designated Junction boundaries

Dispose of your cup and keep Downtown Wixom clean

Follow all applicable laws regarding alcohol

Do not take your drink into another establishment

Do not bring your drink into establishments without a liquor license

A Social District is an area designated by a local government where customers can carry and drink an open container of alcohol purchased from a participating bar or restaurant. Common Areas are designated within the district where customers can drink their beverage, such as public parks and sidewalks. The State of Michigan enacted the law to allow Social Districts in July 2020 to support hospitality businesses, spur economic activity, and allow cities to expand outdoor dining and drinking areas.

Alcohol can be taken into any public, unlicensed space within the district, such as sidewalks or public parks. Benches and tables that are placed throughout the district in public areas such as Sibley Square Park, Wixom Fountain Area, and the Westend Commons Area are available for your use.

Please note that you cannot take your alcoholic beverage into another business' licensed area, either indoors or outdoors.

There are some rules about taking drinks into businesses:

You cannot take your beverage into another business that also has a liquor license. For example, you cannot get a glass of wine from Wixom Station and take into Alex’s Pizzeria, or vice versa.
You cannot take your beverage into a food business that does not have a liquor license, such as Taqueria La Casita or Trail’s Edge Cafe.
Some shops downtown may allow you to take food or drink into their store, but please check with each business individually and respect their established rules.
